PROCAT Digital Learning Fellow elected to the Association of Learning Technology (ALT) Communications and Publications Committee
Katharine Jewitt, PROCAT’s Digital Learning Fellow has this month been elected to the Association for Learning Technology Communication and Publications Committee. The committee leads the development of ALT’s communication strategy and publications.
ALT is the leading membership organisation in the field of learning technology. It is a charitable incorporated organisation, founded in 1993. Their purpose is to ensure that the use of learning technology is efficient and effective, informed by research and practice. ALT’s activities are led by three main operational committees: Further Education and cross-sector engagement, Membership development and Communication and Publications. ALT’s work focuses on improving practice, promoting research and influencing policy.
PROCAT is leading the development and use of digital learning technology to empower learners and their employers and to support new ways of delivering education and skills. We need to maximise the use of digital technologies, incorporating these into the curriculum to enrich and enliven learning and to encourage independent learning and research. We will enable employers to have real-time access to their apprentices’ progress so that they can support them while on-the-job. The development of digital technology is intrinsically linked to the strategic goals of the college.
Katharine’s work at PROCAT focuses on maximising the use of digital technology, incorporating technology into the curriculum, enabling greater access to learners, enriching and enlivening their learning experience. Katharine has a particular interest in how Technology Enhanced Learning can help young people to develop key life skills and realise their full potential.
